Every culture has a way it promotes itself, either by food, music or dressing. However, in

today's world, the line has been slightly blurred as the internet has brought people closer to share common food and fashion including lifestyle. Most look at the internet for expression of identity.
#How should the Children of Light Dress?
Most Christians copy whatever fashion is on the street. They fail to recognise styles that have been dictated to the world by the kingdom of darkness, reason discernment is valuable in the present age.
When ripped jeans first appeared on the scene, I never thought it would make the rounds until I saw it make the church circuit. I recognised it as something I had seen in my dream worn in the underworld.
There are decent and modest clothes that are dignifying and are culturally appropriate. In most cultures, ripped clothes are associated with those without a sound mind. Sad to see how the enemy has thrown all it has at the world to rob people of dignity and their God given identity.
In the book, English Fashion, by Alison Settle; Gothic influence on fashion in the 12th century was traced to the Romans with ladies clothes that receded. Bias cut became fashionable as clothes were cut to fit the body like gloves revealing the contour. The men wore tights.
In a picture showing a 12th century fashion, it is modelled by the devil with the title, "The Devil, In A Woman's Tight-Laced Dress." "By the time that Henry 1 came to the throne in 1100, women's dresses were made with two seams to the sleeves as well as to skirts, the body back-or side-laced, while the bias cut and elastic weave of the wool caused the dress to cling to breast and hips with least elaboration of cut."
The book traces fashion from the 12th Century to early 20th century with the influences of the Romans and Royalty on fashion.
Therefore, fashion is influenced by many factors including prevailing ideology. Choosing how to express who we are matters.
#Celebrating Christmas
Dressing for Christmas if we are to honour the One that the season is about will require choosing fashion that best represents the season; the birth of the King of kings and the LORD of lords.
Yes, the season is about colour; tassels and everything that sparkles, but also classy and dignifying.
We must dress to show we are children of light by making careful choices that show we respect our body as made in God's image.
