Angels and Heavenly Authority

“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.” [Psalm 91: 11 – 13, NKJV Bible.]
“Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that, for I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” [Revelation 22: 8 - 9, NKJV.]
I am writing on this subject to advice and warn people that it is not the will of God for us to solicit the help of angels or worship them. As a matter of fact, it is dangerous for a believer to seek or solicit the help of an angel directly. However, we can pray as one saved and ask the LORD to send His angels to guard and guide us in times of trial, a promise God has already given.
Angels are given as ministering angels to minister to those who are heirs of salvation--Hebrews 1:14.
We read how angels went to Jesus after Satan had tempted Him in the wilderness and ministered to His needs.
No good angel will act against the will of God, not even our personal angel because that will mean disobedience. That was the mistake Lucifer made with a host of other angels that cost them their office. They became Satan and demons, the spiritual host of wickedness in heavenly places; principalities and powers as the Bible teaches.
Angels can also be seen as our brethren or fellow believers that have gone before us, who are given to help us in our journey of salvation in order to attain eternal life like they have done. That was the reason John was instructed by the angel in Revelation 22, not to bow and worship at his feet for he was one like him.
When angels make contact with one who is born- again, the Holy Spirit shields the believer and keeps from fear because we are not walking into the supernatural by our own ability but by the power of God's Holy Spirit. They come to serve us who are heirs of Salvation--children of God.
The cross of Jesus dealt with all aspects of fear which comes from unrighteousness and rebellion [we are no longer slaves or servants, we are sons and heirs; kept by the power of God.]
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs --- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” [Romans 8:15-17, NKJV.]
As human children we will not visit our earthly father, walk into the house and be afraid of the servant. Moreover we will not ask our father’s servant for the help that only our father can meet, knowing he does not have the authority. Above all, it will be idolatry to seek help directly from an angel, what many who encourage this practice seek to force on their congregations--rebellion against God.
On the other hand, the angels that come through without authority from God, are fallen angels whose operations are to deceive and cause people to indulge in perverseness. Quite often, these demons will seek to help humans without them soliciting, because as fallen angels, they are also seducing spirits, working to cause sin by tempting the unwary.
As Psalm 91:11-12, says, God will give His angels to protect us.
I was in a situation in which three demonic beings dressed in their warring gear appeared to attack me while away. I had no idea an attack was imminent. But the God who knows all things sent thousands of angels to protect me. They were dressed in white, with dark curly hair and with appearance as that of young warriors that reminded me of how David must have looked like. When the demons saw they were surrounded, gave up and ran.
Demons often work using various disguises to deceive while pretending to be angels of light. Satan even deceives with images that the world promotes as the image of Jesus to confuse and deceive. Reason it is important to resist human created images that are made to depict Christ.
I remember being at a Pentecostal Church prayer meeting where someone was praying for people to receive the gift of tongues. I had already made it clear I was not interested, and if it was God’s will I should, God had the power by His Spirit to bring it about. I did not need the help of man as it was God who gifts. As he prayed, I could discern from the smell and perceive the demons beginning to appear. I prayed to God to prevent their mission as they were showing up to possess lives.
When the prayer group realized what had happened because their believe was that they were calling good angels, were unhappy I prayed against it.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” [1 Peter 5: 8, NKJV.]
Satan gains access into minds through his fellow fallen angels or demons and work by imparting spirits of fear or rebelliousness in order to control lives and minds. Therefore, its important to stay clear of seeking help or approaching angels directly. God will send and take control when He gives a message through an angel to you. Throughout the Bible we see God sending angels to prophets and people to relay His messages. Also we see cases where fallen angels made contact with men to pollute their minds such as in Genesis 6.
The Scripture was given as example to us as guide, to instruct and reveal the whole wisdom and counsel of God, and keep us from stumbling, because many false teachings are out in the world. There are people teaching what they have not received from God. There are healings and prophecies being received today that are not from God, but through rebellious spirits. The Bible warned that the antichrist spirit will perform miracles.
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” [1st John 4:1, NKJV.]
“You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.” [2 Peter 3: 17-18, NKJV. ]
