Good nutrition is important for maintaining good health, especially where a person's mobility is restricted due to age or illness. Unfortunately, most people loose their appetite due to poor health, resulting in bowel health problems. Eating the right food has been known to reduce dependence on laxatives for bowel movement.
A common mistake we make is in giving up on eating fresh nutritional foods [fibre rich foods], relying more on sugary and ultra-processed foods which causes bloating, constipation and other health issues.
Our gut health can be significantly improved, if we eat the right food in the right amount. Home made deserts such as cakes, with oats, apples, carrots, nuts and pumpkin seeds and berries, promote healthy gut.
In addition, to fibre rich foods, adequate fluid intake makes regular toileting possible, and promotes kidney health, which reduces the risk of uncomfortable stomach ailments.
Water is said to help remove wastes from the kidney through urine. It also keeps blood vessels open.
Most find drinking water difficult. Sourcing good bottled water could be the answer.
People who are unable to have physical activity due to ill-health or age, should consider, if within their means, having freshly prepared dishes that are well balanced with carbohydrates, protein and essential fats to avoid unnecessary health problems and complications from diabetes.
Moreover, keeping to a regular eating habit, will prevent over snacking when hungry. The way we treat our body matters if we are to stay healthy, and the two important things needed besides good sleep, are food and water.
